Joni's books are a good way to decide whether you are interested in reading certain books. The Radical Reads book allows students and teachers to visit themes and subject areas before reading a book. If a teacher wants books with specific themes, they are outlined in this book. If a student needs help knowing what the themes in a book are, all of this is listed in a reader-friendly format. In addition to the helpful character descriptions, themes and reviews, Joni's books give great examples of how to give your own booktalks. For some, Radical Reads is a reference book. For me, Radical Reads is how I determine what I will read when I don't have time to investigate the books myself.
